Teeth Whitening Gel

Teeth Whitening Gel is made up from the chemicals called Hydrogen Peroxide and Urea which when combined is called Carbamide Peroxide.

Carbamide peroxide, is also called urea peroxide, urea hydrogen peroxide, and percarbamide.

Both these chemicals are bleaching agents and as such the procedure using these chemicals for dentistry applications is called teeth whitening or teeth bleaching.

Over recent years this has become a very popular cosmetic treatment. It was once the preserve just for the rich and famous, but is now available for every one who would like to enhance the appearance of their teeth and maintain a fresh and youthful look.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen Peroxide (H2 O2) can be purchased over the counter at any drug store and is a useful disinfectant or antiseptic to have in the house. Used correctly it is a powerful cleaning agent for wounds. Its characteristics are that it is colourless and is slightly thicker than water.

Carbamide Peroxide.

Carbamide Peroxide is a compound of both Hydrogen Peroxide and Urea.

Combining peroxide with urea makes a much more stable product which has significant benefits for the manufacturer.

The end user still gets all the bleaching power of peroxide but the product is much more stable and has a longer shelf life.
